ABOUT NICA
Nica has always loved dance and movement! Her passion for dance and movement stared when watching beautiful ballerinas at four years old and her interest in Yoga and Pilates started with various techniques and principles of both movement and kinesiology classes at American University in Washington DC where she received a Bachelors Degree in Dance.
AS DANCER~
As a professional Modern, Traditional Balinese, and Flamenco dancer, Nica has spent extensive time living in various parts of the world including New York City, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Morocco, Canada, China, Bali, and Vietnam, learning new ways of integrating movement and flow. She is honoured to have studied and worked with internationally acclaimed choreographers such as Mark Morris, David Rousseve, Dame Alicia Diaz; and with world-renowned tenor Placido Domingo at The Washington Opera.
As a belly dancer, mesmerized by the music and dance of the Middle East, Nica immediately fell in love with the art form and continues to study belly dance extensively. She is thrilled to have studied with Yousry Sharif, Raqia Hassan, Tamra El Henna, Ansuya, Bozenka, Faten Salama, Yasmina, Rachel Brookmire, and Elysa. Nica thanks Saphira of Saffron Dance for being one of her first teachers! Inspired by her yearly trips to Morocco, Nica bought a doumbek (drum) and studies with Brad “Sidqi” Sidwell, Souhail Kaspar, and Issam Houshan of the BellyDance Superstars .
